Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

We asked if respondents’ businesses had ever faced public opposition to their transport operations. Just 10% had overall. Operators serving the agriculture industry are most likely to have faced public opposition: 17% reported that they had.

Larger fleets (51 or more vehicles) are the least likely to face such opposition: just 4% reported having to deal with an angry Joe Public.

Of all those who had experienced public opposition, we asked how they addressed it; here is a flavour of the verbatim answers: ● “By discussion with residents.” ● “Changed routes from our yard.” ● “Discussed details with VOSA and the objectors, changed some operational factors and continued subsequent operations successfully.” ● “We replaced fencing, restructured the yard so that the neighbours didn’t see vehicles at any time.”
