FORD IS TO SUPPORT operators caught out by the government's termination of the Powershift organisation by guaranteeing its own grant payments.
Powershift,set up by the government to promote the use of gasfuelled trucks and vans, was killed off on 31 March. leaving operators waiting for their grant payments high and dry.
LPG-equipped Ford Transit Connect and Transits qualified for £700 and £800 worth of grants respectively. Ford has decided to pay operators who had been promised grants but had yet to register their vehicles.
• The new Transit, a heavy makeover of the current version, is expected to be unveiled at the CV Show next year.
