POLICE ARE appealing for witnesses to a road rage attack after a truck driver was assaulted in South Gloucestershire. The vicious attack happened on 14 March between J18-19 on the eastbound carriageway of the M4.

An attempted overtaking manoeuvre and altercation with a car driver escalated when both drivers stopped on the hard shoulder. Two white males who were travelling in the car, a grey or silver Renault Clio,confronted the truck driver. One of the men punched him and as he bent forwards he was struck twice on the back of the head, causing him to fall.

He was punched again while lying helpless the ground before the men drove away.

The driver is in his 40s, 5ft 10in with short, grey hair; he was wearing light coloured trousers and a fight coloured shirt or jersey. The passenger was wearing brown framed glasses.
