Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A COAL HAULIER who spent £35,000 on a specialist trailer made in Belgium claims it fell apart after carrying just five full loads, JMSTransport ofWisbech,Cambridgeshire, says no-one in the UK knows how to repair the vehicle and Composittrailer, the manufacturer, is refusing to take it back.

JMS owner John Melton acquired the trailer in December 2003. But within a month the suspension airbag blew off on the rear wde.making the trailer unusable.

Melton has received £15,000 compensation for loss of earnings from Tanker Solutions, the company which sold him the trailer.

"They [Tanker Solutions] have done all they can," he says. "I am not asking for compensation from Composittrailer, just acknowledgement that it is broken and an agreement to repair it so it can be used or sold."

A lawyer acting for Composit trailer says it has no contractual relationship with JMS so any complaints should be addressed to Tanker Solutions. His letter coneludes: "My client does not wish to correspond with you any further. It is therefore unnecessary to send any more letters, e-mails or faxes."

Steve Biddle, head of technical services at the RHA, took up the case on Melton's behalf but says: "The company never responded tome in any shape or form."
