from North Yorkshire shows. This Belgian driver used his GPS to bypass an accident on the A65 at Sktpton (while taking carpets to Dumfries). Things started to go awry near the village of Gargrave as he left the main road, crossed the Leeds-Liverpool canal to Bell Busk and went to Hellifield via a winding country lane. It petered out into a rough stone bridleway. Surrounded by fields the hapless man attempted to reverse the few miles back to Gargrave — until his drive axle wheels slid into a ditch. Local farmers tried their best to pull him clear with tractors but in the end local recovery firm John Macadam & Son Garages came to the rescue.
