Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE CORY DISTRIBUTION network shrinks further in the summer, when J. Sainsbury switches its South-West custom to BRS Western.

This will result in the closure of Cory's Newport depot, unless suitable replacement business can be found, and will leave Cory only with depots at St Albans and Hackbridge, both serving Greater London.

The Southern English Cory network looked set to be taken over by Unilever's SPD last year, but that company did not exercise its takeover option.

Sainsbury is combining its food and non-food distribution in the South West at a new BRS Western depot at Yate, around 10 miles east of Bristol. It will start to operate in June.

Cory's closure warning comes at the same time as its parent group, Ocean Transport and Trading, announced a fall in pretax trading profit from £22m to £7.5m.
