Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN EIGHT-YEAR old 32.5 tonnes gcw tipping bulk semi-trailer belonging to Tilcon Ltd has been extended by Don-Bur (Bodies and Trailers) of Longton, Stoke on Trent to allow operations at 38 tonnes.

The original single compartment alloy tanker body has had an extra 2.44m (8ft) section (with a manhole included) welded in the centre. The two tank-base runners have been extended to suit the additional length.

Mounting points at the front end have been strengthened to cope with the improved payload capacity resulting from the increased tank volume, which is up from 23cum (920cuft) to 30.8 (1,100cuft). With its new ladder and full length catwalk, the finished tank is mounted on a new Don-Bur all-alloy tri-axle air suspended semi-trailer chassis.

Designated the AU 33.5, the 10.78m (35.37ft) chassis which weighs 3.25 tonnes (3.20 tons; has a king-pin overhang of 480mm (18.9in) to suit the chassis for bulk tipping operations with two axled tractive units.

The main chassis members are fabricated alloy beams with 150x19mm (5.9x0.75in) top and bottom flanges, the only steel component in the chassis being the BS4360 grade 50B kingpin plate.

SAF AR 413 air suspension on SAF axles is used with the rearmost axle in the bogie being a self-aligning unit. Single 11.75x22.5 ISO fitting wheels have 15R 22.5 tyres, while DonBur specifies Anchorick brake chambers, automatic hand brake units and SAB auto-slack adjusters. Tipping is by means of the Edbro DS18 single ram gear.
