SUGAR DISTRIBUTORS HOLDINGS is spending 111f1 .5m (£1.2m) over the next three years in a new specialist Irish Republic transport company, Tanktrans.
It runs 22 purpose built tankers at present, having been formed from Ferdia Tanker Transport, a company SDH acquired last year, but plans are advanced for the fleet to be doubled by the end of this year.
The new company is to handle bulk haulage of liquids, gas, chemicals and powders, and is run by chief executive Anthony Breen, who was Ferdia's managing director.
