GEOFFREY CLARKSON has been made general manager of Eastern National Omnibus Company, based at Chelmsford. He takes over from Charles Mercer who is retiring.

Mr Clarkson is currently manager of Midland Red (Express) and the southern division of National Travel (West). He joined the industry in 1963 as a trainee with Ribble Motor Services in his home town of Preston and became the company's central area traffic assistant before joining Red and White Services as assistant area manager in 1970.

He later became Gwent and Dean divisional manager and assistant operations manager for former Midland Red in 1978.

Before his latest appointment he was Midland Red (South) traffic manager.
