Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A SUSPENSION system disclosed in r-k patent No. 861,127 makes use of coil springs and compressed-air bellows. The aim is to produce a system that will accommodate itself to widely varying loads. (M. Julien and Usines Paulstra, 9 rue Hamelin, Paris.) The drawing is a diagrammatic view of the complete layout, The coil spring (1) and the bellows (2) move in parallel, and the pressure in the bellows is controlled by the movement of the frame when the load is applied.

This is achieved by the use of a bobbin valve (3) which controls the application of hydraulic pressure to an extensible bladder (4), located in a closed air chamber (5) and directly piped to the bellows, so that an increase in fluid pressure increases the air pressure in the bellows.

To prevent short-term road shocks from altering the air pressure in the bellows. the valve rod is cushioned. by springs (6) and is damped by a daShpot (7).

The specification, which deals with the mathematics of suspension, claims that the system described is free from resonance under all conditions of load.
