Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Steel haulage in South Yorkshire is set to expand following a £14m investment in new production facilities by AvestaPolarit, which employs 1,300 people in the region.

Elsewhere in the country hauliers are still waiting to hear how huge cutbacks by Anglo-Dutch steel giant Carus earlier this year will affect their business.

The expansion of AvestaPolarit's plant in Shepcote Lane, Sheffield, will enable it to cast "long products", used to make stainless steel reds, in addition to stainless steel slabs.

But Tim Collins. logistics and commercial manager, says hauliers will not benefit immediately from the investment because it will take time for the output of the company's finished products, which are carried byroad, to be stepped up. Bulk steel will continue to be moved by rail.

AvestaPolarit's export deliveries are handled by DFDS Logistics, Davis Freight Forwarding and Norbert Dentressangle; Christian Salvesen looks after its UK deliveries.
