It is true that many firms set up their own schemes but recently the Institute of Advanced Motorists has set up an independent training company called JAM Fleet Training Ltd. which carries out this work on an increasingly wide scale. The address of this new organisation, launched last March, is la Marlborough Road, Chiswick, London W4.
In addition, your correspondent is incorrect in implying that the Institute of Advanced Motorists only carries out tests on cars. This is not so as the Institute has had a commercial vehicle test for just over 20 years and also conducts a test for solo motorcyclists in most of the principal towns and cities in the UK.
I fully support Mr Davies' advice that local Road Safety Officers should be consulted as they can provide much helpful advice on driver improvement.
