Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Surrey County Council is to launch two special community bus services. The first is Access Bus — a new service to Guildford and Woking for anyone who has difficulty using normal buses.

Passengers boarding the specially-converted Leyland National will be able to use a ramp rather than steps, while inside there will be space for wheel chair travellers as well as conventional bus seating.

Access bus is a joint venture between Surrey County Council and Alder Valley South, along with Surrey Voluntary Services Council. Alder Valley will run the speciallyadapted National at marginal cost, with sponsorship from local businesses, while the County has put up 21.200 to fund a publicity campaign for the scheme.

A similar vehicle scheme is already being operated by Alder Valley North called Careline (CM August 2).

The second venture, planned for next spring, is a new minibus link called Peterbus 3 to St Peter's Iios pital, Chertsey, for people in the Egham and Virginia Water area.

The new Peterbus follows the success of two earlier minibus schemes linking people in Woking, Chobham and Byfleet area to St Peter's llospital.

Tenders will shortly be invited for the new Peterbus service.

The cost of buying a vehicle and setting up the project will be met by the County Council, using a £10,000 donation from the Schroder Charity.
