Psychology masters students Annette Jockel has told the Australian journal Bus & Truck (June edition) that there is a need to study the impact of truck driving on the family lifestyle, health and welfare.
"Partner, absence may be stressful as such a lifestyle requires frequent re-adjustment of the household," she says. "Members of the family need to be self-reliant when the worker is away and then change their routines to accommodate him when he returns."
