• Dover Harbour Board is planning a new multi-million pound road and rail ferry berth at its Western Dock. The new tidal train ferry facility will serve the Dunkirk route. A new-generation ferry is presently being built to operate from the new ferry berth. The ferry, which will be completed in 1988, will carry freight rail wagons on the lower deck and roll-on, roll-off lorries on the upper deck.
