DEAL1NG with an application by Ketrywyte Transport Ltd., of 23a Brenthouse Road, Hackney, London, for the substitution of five vehicles on B licence, the Metropolitan deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. C. J. Macdonald, commented in London on Monday: "Everything one looks at in this case is thoroughly unsatisfactory ".
He had called the company before him to show him why its licence should not be revoked or suspended. Kerrywyte also applied for the substitution of vehicles on the licence which authorizes their use for carrying demolition materials and rubb:sh within 20 miles of Hackney town hall.
In both cases Mr. Macdonald reserved his decision pending completion of an agreement between Mr. E. A. Hunt, a director of Kerrywyte, and the owners of 23a Brenthouse Road, He said that he wanted to see a certified copy of the agreement giving Mr. Hunt the right to use the yard at that address as a base.
When the inquiry opened, Mr.
Macdonald pointed out that Mr. Hunt bought the business last year, when he was granted a licence in December enabling him to continue serving the old customers. Since then no business had been done.
Mr. Hunt promised that if he was granted the application he would not only serve new customers, but regain the business of the original customers as well, and Mr. Macdonald would have no more trouble from him.
