THE ONGOING investigation in Germany into Willi Betz director Thomas Betz has revealed further evidence of alleged bribery and corruption between the haulage giant and BAG, Germany's equivalent of VOSA.
Betz is accused of bribing highranking officials in eastern European countries to obtain haulage licences illegally, avoid fines and allow up to 8,000 Betz trucks to be driven illegally by Eastern Bloc drivers.
F1AG's vice-president, Rolf Kreienhop, is also accused of passing confidential information to Betz concerning traffic controls at border crossings. In addition, he is accused of intervening in police procedures in favour of the company and preventing fines being levied against it.
Kreienhop is said to have received a €.36,000 Mercedes for his services and he had travel expenses paid for, including 17 flights and hotel costs.
Kreienhop was suspended from BAG, which also operates the country's Maut toll on the autobahns, in June 2004. This followed raids on Willi Betz's headquarters the previous year following allegations of bribery against its executives (CM 3 April 2003).
