• Fenland haulier D&R Hankins has lost a third of its fleet in an arson attack on its yard in Manea near Littleport, Cambs. Firefighters and police were called as the fire spread through the site on the night of Tuesday 27 September, destroying four tractors and an eightlegger.

Owner Dud Hankin knows of no enemies in the industry and has no idea who started the fire.

The firm has been able to honour its contracts by retaining a unit it had sold, drafting in subcontractors and borrowing an ERF demonstrator from a local garage.
