Transport's carpet distribution business, boosting its 138-strong fleet by 34 trucks.
Carpet Express will take over Dukes' mainland carpet distribution operation and hire purchase deals on the 34 vehicles. Deliveries in Ulster and the Republic of Ireland will be carried out by Dukes under contract.
Carpet Express also assumes the leasehold on the Dukes depot in Kidderminster and is offering jobs to all 42 staff, including 21 drivers.
It is also offering work to up to 12 of the staff at the
Huddersfield site, which Dukes Transport is turning into a groupage depot. Carpet Express plans to transfer up to 12 staff to its Bradford site. The £1.5m deal comprised £400,000 cash and £1.1m for the hire-purchase contract on the vehicles.
