STATISTICS issued from Berne show that, over the first half of the current year. Switzerland imported 7,240 commercial road vehicles worth a total of 60,100.000 francs. This figure is about 80 per cent. higher than that for the corresponding 1960 period (4,029 units worth 29,800,000 francs), the value of imports rising by over 100 per cent.

Imports of commercial vehicles and chassis from the United Kingdom rose from 262 to 465 units over the period. the two leading suppliers—West Germany and France—increasing their share of the total imports from 2,826 to 5,315 units and from 524 to 778 units, respectively.
