T"programme of commercial vehicles announced for 1962 by the American Dodge organization comprises 141 basic models, ranging from a 4-ton forward-control delivery van to 231-ton gross load carriers and 34-ton grosscombination-weight tractive units. The latest models include normaland forward-control designs, four-wheel-drive chassis and school-bus models. Eleven petrol engines, ranging in output from 101 b.h.p. to 228 b.h.p. are offered, whilst heavy-duty chassis have the further option. of Cummins diesels of from 160 to 250 b.h.p.
When diesel engines are fitted, these are installed in an inclined position to lower the height of the bonnet, and this installation method applies also to some of the larger in-line six-cylindered petrol engines. All petrol engines have 35-amp. alternators as standard with the option of 40-amp. equipment. Paired headlamps are a standard feature throughout most of the range.
