Abandoned: Jet Petroleum. Ltd., of Lincolnshire, have abandoned their plans for the establishment of a £350,000 terminal at the port of Blyth. Northumberland, owing to safety regulations concerning the entry of petrol-carrying ships into ports.
Security Prize: A prize of 101) guineas has been awarded to Patfield Electrical Services, 63a Lyndhurst Way, London, S.E.I5, for the Malco immobilizing device which, as reported in The Commercial Motor last week, won the 1961 competition organized by the Vehicle Security Committee of the Road Haulage Association.
Pakistan May Manufacture: "Concrete suggestions' have been made by West German industry for the erection in Pakistan of goods vehicle manufacturing plants, it was stated in Karachi this week by a member of the Pakistan Government. It is said to he likely that German experts will visit Pakistan to draw up plans for the building of the plants.
Swedish Sales Up: Sales of goods vehicles in Sweden arc at present running at an annual level of some 14,500 units, compared with only 14,200 a year ago, according to the latest figures issued by the Swedish Automotive Manufacturers' Association. Three-quarters of the sales are of vehicles produced by the two Swedish firms, ScaniaVabis and Volvo.
1,45,000 Scheme: Aquato, Ltd., who have their headquarters in London. have completed the first part of a new £45.000 garage scheme in East Road, Sleaford. Lines, where they will be trading as Sleaford Motors. A large forecourt with pumps and other equipment is now in use, arid behind this the company will next be building extensive showrooms for commercial vehicles, cars and agricultural vehicles.
