Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

As a dedicated exhibition, Tank-Ex proved an excellent sell-out show with its opening seminar and innovative exhibits...

Words and Images: Bryan Jarvis Tank-Ex catered for a vital sector of the transport industry, and while construction is stagnant, the fuel, food, chemicals and waste sectors remain fairly robust, hence the organisers' early optimism about visitor numbers.

The economic crisis did have an effect on attendance, but road tankers are the tools of many niche business sectors, and maybe 400 or so decision-makers, senior advisors, fleet engineers and the like was a good turnout. In any case, a number of exhibitors reported a decent level of enquiries, so, unsurprisingly, most of them have promised to return next year.

Examples of innovative engineering included BPW's Eco Disc trailer axle with in-house brake caliper; a host of telematics systems and contaminant-free screw-type compressors from GHH R and Gardner Denver.

And at least one exhibitor struck lucky: Walsall-based rental company ITS sold its display model 33,000-litre Rohr vacuum tanker directly to PA Wright of Twycross, and delivered it after the show. •
