1sTEXT Friday, November 13, the Earl of Rose-bery, D.S.O., M.G., 4\ will open the Scottish Motor Show at Kelvin Hall, Glasgow. There being no Commercicgl Motor Show in London this year, the . Scottish Exhibition will include a large commercial-vehicle section, in which 36 makers and dealers will be represented. Two years ago there were 38 exhibitors of commercial vehicles and engines.

The Show will remain open from November 13-21, the prices of admission being as follow :—Week-days, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., 2s. 6d. ; 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Is. Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 2s. 6d. ; 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., is. Below we publish, in the form pf a running commentary, a comprehensive forecast of the exhibits in the commercial-vehicle section. The stands are dealt with in numerical order.

Five Bedford goods vehicles and a 25seater coach of the same make will be featured by the We,stem Motor Co., Ltd. (Stand 70). The last-named vehicle has a Duple K.D. body incorporating a special full-Vrop head, A notable feature of the coachwork is the K.D, rear luggage locker, which accommodates 25 full-size suitcases. The Bedford special passenger chassis forms the basis of this machine.

Two drop-sided lorries will be on view, One will be a 30-cwt. model,

powered by a six-cylindered 26.3 h.p, petrol engine; semi-forward control is used and a 1)14-ward-mounted engine allows of a short wheelbase without reduction of body space, with better load distribution and increased stability. The 2-ton lorry to be shown follows the same general design as the 30-cwt. machine and Iveighs under 2 tons unladen.

The popular 3-ton tipper will also ba on view. The exhibits will be completed by a 3-ton long-wheelbase double-deck cattle truck, having a Penman body, and a 1,000-cubic-ft. pantechnicon, which has as its basis the 3ton long-wheelbase chassis.

Four Austin products will be displayed by David Carlaw and Sons,

Ltd., on Stand 71 Three of the machines will be vans, the other being a St. Andrew's-type ambulance having a six-cylindered 23.5 h.p. engine. Synchromesh gears are provided for the top, third and second ratios. The smallest van will be the well-known 5-cwt. model, supplemented by a 6-8cwt. outfit and a 7-10-cwt. van.

Morris and Morris-Commercial vehicles will be to the fore on the stand (72) of the Westfield Autocar Co., Ltd. The popular 5-cwt. van will be seen, along with the 8-10-cwt. van, which has semi-forward control and a body capacity of 119 cubic ft.

A Useful Mortis-Commercial Range.

A Morris-Commercial 1-ton baker's van is also to be exhibited. This machine is powered by a four-cylindered engine rated at 13.9 h.p. The exhibits are to be completed by a 30-cwt. van, the body of which has been specially designed to meet the requirements of newspaper distribution, and a 4-ton platform lorry. The latter incorporates a six-cylindered petrol engine, which is rated at 25.01 h.p. and develops a maximum of 60 b.h.p. The platform body has a double oak floor, crutch pegs and hook nets, specially designed for use by brewers.

Six Bedford vehicles will be featured by the Scottish Motor Traction Co., Ltd. (Stand 73). Two vans will be seen, the first being an 8-cwt. model, which has been ordered by Goodlass, Wall and Co., Ltd., Liverpool, the wellknown paint concern. The second van is a 30-cwt. model.

The Bedford 3-ton range will be represented by a short-wheelbase chassis carrying Clayton Dewandr4 rack-type tipping gear, by a longwheelbase 1,000-cubic-ft. furniture van with an S.M.T. extension and body, and by a long-wheelbase platform lorry.

To complete the exhibits there will be a 20-seater coach, the Duple body of which has been built to the specifications of W. Alexander and Sons, Ltd.

To be shown for the first time, the new 9-ton six-wheeler will appear on Stand 74 of Albion Motors, Ltd. With substantial bodywork, the unladen weight of the complete vehicle can be kept down to less than 5 tons. The example to be shown has been sold to Messrs. H. and 11 Gillespie, contractors, of Irvine, for milk transport from Ayrshire to Glasgow. The AlbionRicardo oil engine used is a six-cylindered unit, rated at 43.4 h.p.

A Lightweight Albion 5i-tonner.

Two other goods models to be seen will comprise the 30 m.p.h. 5-i-tonner, which was introduced in July last, and a 30-40-cwt. forward-control laundry van for the Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Society. The higher-rated vehicle, which is a fine example of scientific weight reduction, will have a body by Messrs. Kirkness and Innes, of Leith.

The fourth exhibit will be a Victor 32-seater, with bodywork by John Stewart and Co. (Vstishaw), Ltd., and having a 23-65 h.p. four-cylindered petrol engine.

An outstanding feature of the exhibits of Crossley Motors, Ltd., on Stand 75, will be the four-wheeled doubledeck troileybus. The Metro-Vick motor, which is placed amidships, is mounted on a separate sub-frame. It has an output of 80 b.h.p. at the onehour rating and a continuous output of 60 b.h.p. The 56-seater body is of patented all-steel construction.

Two other passenger models to be shown will comprise an oil-engined double-decker chassis and a complete

oil-engined 52-seater bus with a strikingly curved body of patented all. steel construction. In both cases, the engine is of the VR.6 type, incorporating a Ricardo swirl chamber and developing 100 b.h.p. at 1,700 r.p.m. The crankshaft has seven main bearings.

The exhibits will be completed by a rigid six-wheeled chassis, similar to the pattern supplied to the Air Ministry.. The four-cylindered 5.266-litre petrol engine has a five-bearing crankshaft. Dodge and Singer vehicles will be featured by Ritchies, Ltd., on Stand 76. Five examples of the Dodge range will be available for inspection, including the 4-tonner, which will be shown with a platform lorry body by Ritchies, Ltd. This model will also be on view in the form of an hydraulic tipper.

A standard Dodge 2-ton lorry is also to be seen on this stand. The other Dodge exhibits will comprise a 30-cwt. delivery van and a shooting brake, which has as its basis the 15-cwt. chassis.

The Singer models will be two 5-7cwt. vans, each of which has a capacity of 65 cubic ft. This type is powered by a 9 h.p. four-cylindered engine, the price of the vanbeing £115.

Users of light vans will be interested to see the Jowett range to be exhibited by Tradeston Motors, Ltd„ on Stand 78. Four models will be available for inspection, two of them being vans and two light lorries. The standard van is designed for 7-cwt. pay-loads, and the body has a capacity of 88 cubic ft. The price of this model is £135.

Having a somewhat larger capacity, the popular 10-cwt. van will also be on view. In this case the body capacity is 107.5 cubic ft., and ample floor space is available. The Jewett will also be displayed in the form of a 7-cwt. lorry, and a covered lorry of similar pay-load rating. In each case the power unit is the maker's wellknown horizontally 'opposed twincylindered engine.

The maker's new patent roller-bearing turntable is incorporated in the c22

4-5-ton four-wheeled trailer which will appear among the range to be shown by J. Brockhouse and Co., Ltd., on Stand 79. This model, which is 12 ft. long (excluding the drawbar) and costs £170, will be supplemented by six other trailers and semi-trailers varying in payload capacities from 2-3 cwt. to 6 tons.

A Kwikfiks platform semi-trailer will be coupled up to a Karrier Bantam tractor, the complete _ outfit costing £492. The vehicle is 26 ft. long and 7 ft. 2 ins, wide. The 6-ton trailer, costing £228 10s., will also appear in platform guise. The Brockhouse 1S-cwt, two-wheeler will serve as the basis of a 250-500 g.p.m. trailer fireengine with a Drysdale pump. Farmers will be interested in the Gibson' Eccles 10-12-cwt. low-loading trailer.

On Stand 80, C. Crowther, Ltd., is to feature five Deonis vehicles. Of special interest will be a Lancet II bus powered by the maker's direct-injection oil engine. The 32-seater body is also a product of the Dennis concern. Another passenger-vehicle exhibit will be an Arrow Minor 25-seater coach. The 'Lancet model will also be on view equipped with a 32-seater coach body and powered by the maker's fourcylindered petrol engine.

Goods models are to be represented by the light 4-tanner, which will be shown in the form of a tipper with Wood hydraulic gear. The remaining exhibits will be a 40-45-cwt. chassis equipped with a special baker's van body.

Outstanding in the commercialvehicle section of the Show will be the

new Daimler four-wheeled trolleybus chassis, the introduction of which was foreshadowed some time ago by The Coalmen:4'a Motor. Priced at £1,202, the chassis incorporates MetropolitanVickers electrical equipment, an offset underslung worm-driven rear aide and a Westinghouse hydraulic braking system, which is automatically ad

justed. The steering gear is of the worm-and-nut pattern.

Approximate dimensions are as follow :—Wheelbase, 16 ft. 3 ins. ; track (front), 6 ft. 6 ins.; (rear), 5 ft. 10 ins. Dunlop tyres are fitted, those at the front being of 10.50-in. by 20-in, section, and the twins at the rear of 9.C10-in. by 20-in. section.

The three other models to be shown by the Daimler Co., Ltd., on Stand Si, will be COG.5 machines with Gardner five-cylindered 7-litre oil engines, and Fluid Flywheel .transmission systems embodying the Wilson preselective

gearbox. In addition to a doubledecker chassis there will be a. coach with a Willowbrook 39-seater .Docly and a single-deck bus having a Cowieson. 36-seater body. The single-deck bus, incidentally, has -a five-speed gearbox and costs £1,885 as shown.'

No fewer than 11 Leyland vehicles are to -be exhibited-at Glasgow. Four of these will be seen on the maker's stand (82), , Two passenger vehicles will be on view, the first being the .well-known Titan double-decker -equipped with a Hybridge-type all-metal 53-seater body, and powered by .:a six-cylindered directinjection oil engine. This vehicle is one of an order by W. -Alexander and Sons, Ltd., for 50 similar 'machines.

The second passenger vehicle will be a Leyland Lion single-decker with allmetal body. In this -case a sixcylindered petrol engine provides the motive power.

A Neat Luggage Locker.

Operators will be particularly interested in the 36-seater single-deck body, in which the luggage accommodation in a locker on the roof is noteworthy. A Clayton Dewandre heater is incorporated in the front bulkhead.

The SKZ 3 Cub model will be available for inspection in chassis form. The model to be on view has a wheelbase of 12 ft. 14) ins. ; it is powered by a petrol engine and incorporates Lockheed servo brakes.

The final exhibit on this stand will be a Luton van having as its basis an AKZ 3 Cub chassis. The interior dimensions of the body are :—Length, 16 ft. 6 ins. ; width, 6 ft. 10 ins ; and height, 8 ft. 8 ins., giving with the extension over the cab, a capacity of 1,000 cubic ft. Powered by a petrol engine, the vehicle weighs under 3 tons unladen.

As in past years, an imposing array of Morris-Commercials will be on view, Messrs. Cameron and Campbell (Stand 83) being among the sponsors. The 4-5-tonner with a six-cylindered 80 b.h.p. engine will be shown in chassis form, the cost 'being £330. A Lockheed hydraulic four-wheel-braking system, incorporating large drums, is fitted.

A baker's van body will be mounted upon the 30-cwt. six-cylindered chassis, which incorporates a 55 b.h.p. engine. The specification includes a Solex self-starting carburetter and a spiral-bevel rear axle, incorporating fully floating axle shafts. A special grocer's van is the form in which the 1-ton forward-control model will appear, the price, as shown, being £288. . The four-cylindered engine, rated at 13.9 h.p., develops 32 b.h.p. In this case, the overhead-worm rear axle embodies three-quarter floating shafts.

A Light Milk Lorry.

The needs of the milk distributor will be met by a 10-cwt. special lorry, having an 11.9 h.p. engine. The gearbox is of the three-speed synchromesh type, whereas the other Morris-Commercial products to be shown on this stand have four-speed gearboxes.

The sole Scottish distributors of E.R.F. products — Messrs. James Bowen and Sons—will display, on Stand 84, three examples of this make of goods vehicle and a T.S.M. New Express coach, having a Duple luxury body.

The biggest E.R.F. will be a sixwheeled 12-tonner with a 22-ft. platform, the complete vehicle weighing under 6 tons unladen; the price is £1,695. Next in the descending scale will be a C15-type long-wheelbase 7itonner, carrying an 18-ft. platform. In this case, the unladen weight is less than 4 tons and the price of the vehicle, £1,205. The two C14-type long-wheelbase 7i-ton chassis to be shown cost £1,006 each. Gardner oil engines are incorporated-in the E.R.F. machines.

On Stand 85 Dodge Bros. (Britain), Ltd., will have available for inspection four examples of its range of goods vehicles. Two of the machines will be vans, the first being a 30-cwt. forwardcontrol model powered by a sixcylindered engine rated at 25,35 h.p. and developing a maximum of .70 b.h.p. at 3,000 r.p.m.

The second van will be a normalcontrol 2-tonner, the body of which has been designed to meet the requirements of the bakery trade. The maker's 3-ton range will be represented by a forward-control drop-sided lorry, and the exhibits will be completed by the Major 4-ton long-wheelbase forward-control lorry.

Although the Associated Equipment Co., Ltd., will show on, its stand (86) only two models, they will be well worth inspection. One will be a Regal front-entrance 32-seater streamlined coach. with a Duple body incorporating a sunshine roof and a full front panel. In the case of this machine, a six-cylindered petrol engine of 7.41 litres, affording maximum b.h.p. of 120 at 2,400 r.p.m., is employed.

So far as the bodywork is concerned, special attention has been paid to visibility for passengers. Large observation windows of the fixed and fulldrop patterns are divided by narrow steel channels. An exceptionally large luggage locker is built on the dropped tail ends of the chassis.

The other exhibit will be a. Mammoth Major six-wheeled platform lorry, with a body 22 ft. long, built by Messrs. T. T. Ingram, of Aberdeen. In this instance, the power unit will be the A.E.C.-Ricardo 7.7-litre overheadvalve oil engine. The special electricalcontrol unit fitted greatly simplifies the maintenance of the chassis electrical equipment.

On Stand 87 Reo Motors (Britain), Ltd., will have on view examples of its range of goods chassis. The 2-ton models will be represented by a dairyman's lorry having as its basis the short-wheelbase chassis, whilst an ex ample of the long-wheelbase model will be seen equipped with a baker's van body. It is noteworthy that the dairyman's lorry has an unladen weight of under 2 tons. .

The 2i-ton short-wheelbase model,,will b.e seen in chassis form, whilst the 31-tonner exhibited will be a forward-control model with a special de luxe cab and platform body.

M'Lay's Garage, Ltd., plans to exhibit on Stand 88 four vehicles, two being Morris-Commercials and two from the Morris factory. Of the former make, one will be' a 2-ton forward-control lorry of 11-ft. 2-in, wheelbase;and the other a 1-tonner with platform body and a roomy cab. The larger model costs £263 in priming colour and the smaller £186.

The Morris vehicles will both be vans, one of 5-cwt. capacity and the other 10 cwt. The latter provides a body capacity of 190 cubic ft. and the former 50 cubic ft.

On Stand 89 John I. Thornycroft and Co., Ltd., will be exhibiting examples of its latest range of goods and passenger vehicles. Three vehicles will be on

view, one of which is the Dainty chassis equipped. with a 20-seater Coach body built to the order of Messrs. Harris and Sons, Leven, Fife. Powered by a four-cylindered petrol engine, the .chassis has a wheelbase of 14 ft. The coachwork is of Scottish design and construction, and a feature is the large window space.

The goods vehicles to be exhibited comprise a Sturdy 4-ton brewer's lorry and a Trusty 64-7/-ton chassis. The former represents a repeat order from G. McKay and Co., Ltd., Edinburgh. It weighs 2i ions unladen, and the fourcylindered side-valve petrol engine develops a maximum of 62 b.h.p. With forward-control and a 13-ft. 4-in. wheelbase, a body length of well over 16 ft is provided.

A Powerful Oiler.

The Trusty chassis incorporates the maker's six-cylindered oil engine, and a notable feature of the chassis layout is the setting back of the front axle to give improved load distribution. The six-cylindered 7.88-litre oil engine develops 125 b.h.p. at 2,200 r.p,m.

The final exhibit will be an example of the concern's DC4/I-type oil engine, which is offered as an alternative to the six-cylindered unit in the Trusty chassis. This engine has a capacity of 5.255 litres.

Karrier products will be shown on Stand 90 by T. M. Erskine and Co. A Bantam refuse collector will have a 7-cubic-yd. body with sliding steel covers, mounted on a forward-control 2-ton chassis. Hydraulic tipping gear is fitted. The Bantam tractor, which will also be on view, is a forwardcontrol four-wheeler for 5-ton loads, equipped with the B.K. coupling for use with quickly detachable semitrailers.

The Karrier CK3 3-tonner will appear as a platform lorry of 11-ft 3-in. wheelbase. The six-cylindered petrol engine is rated at 20.9 h.p. The popular Karrier mechanical horse will be seen in two forms, one the Cob Senior 6tonner and the other the Cob Junior 4-tonner. Two engines will be shown separately.

Cowieson Craftsmanship.

One of the leading Scottish bodybuilders, F. D. Cowieson and Co., will demonstrate its craft on Stand 91, where four passenger 'vehicles will be On view. One of these machines-a Dennis Lancet II 36-seater--is for the Northern Ireland Transport Board. It incorporates Accles and Pollock chromium-plated tubular seats with spring frames and Dunlopillo topping. Young half-drop Windows are included in the specification.

Another single-decker will be an Albion six-wheeled 39-seater luxury coach for A. and R. Graham, Ltd. By building the floor in ramp formation, passenger vision is improved and the wheel-arch problem is overcome. Clayton Dewandre heating apparatus is installed at. the front, and the windows are of the Rawlings PYP type.

The other two vehicles will be doublec24

deckers, one a Daimler COG.6 53-seater for Dundee Corporation and the other a Leyland 52-seater for Belfast Corporation. Both the double-deckers have all-steel bodies.

Morris and Morris-Commercial products will be found on Stand 92, tenanted by A. and D. Fraser, Ltd. The Morris vehicles will comprise a 5-cwt. van and an 8-10-cwt. van. A feature of the latter is the semi-forward mounting of the engine, which provides exceptional body capacity with a low loading level.

The smaller vehicle has an engine of 918 c.c., the power unit of the larger van being of 1,550 c.c.

Morris-Commercial products will be represented by a 15-cwt. standard van and a 2-ton six-cylinder forwardcontrol platform lorry of 11-ft. 2-in.

wheelbase. The latter outfit has a Thernmstarter governor-type carburetter.

The recently introduced 8 h.p. tender for estate purposes, which is easily convertible from a six-seater to a lorry, will figure among the four Commers to be shown by Messrs. James

Ross and Sons, on Stand 93. The 15-cwt. normal-control model will appear as a smart box-van of 30 cubic ft. Alongside will be an example of the NS 2-3-ton drop-sided lorry, with a six-cylindered 70 b.h.p. engine and Cowdray-type four-wheel brakes.

The largest model will be the N5 4-5-tanner, which, despite its high payload capacity, weighs less than 21 tons unladen and is legally able to travel at 30 m.p.h. The example shown will have a platform body 15 ft. 6 ins. long. In this case a four-cylindered 80 b.h.p. engine is fitted.

Morris and Morris-Commercial products will also be combined on the stand (94) of William Gillespie and Son, Ltd. The smaller models will comprise Morris 5-cwt. and 10-cwt. vans, whilst the Morris-Commercial range will be represented by a 1-ton forward-control van and a 2-ton lorry with hand-operated end-tipping gear.

The largest Morris-Commercial to be shown has Lockheed hydraulic brakes operating on all four wheels, and a 24.18 h.p. four-cylinclered engine. At the Show, Guy Motors, Ltd., will be represented by its Scottish distributor, Scott, Brown and Co., Ltd. (Stand 95). Four chassis will be on view, consisting of three Wolf 2-tonners and a Vixen 3-tonner. One of the Wolf models will be shown as a stripped chassis, whilst the others will carry bodies, one having Weston hydraulic tipping gear. The specification of the Wolf includes a 50 b.h.p. four-cylindered engine of 3.3 litres.

The same type of engine is fitted in the Vixen chassis, which incorporates Lockheed hydraulic four-wheel brakes.

Two Leylands for Goods.

Two Leyland goods vehicles are to be featured by Messrs. John Mitchell and Sons (Stand 96). The first is a Leyland Cub passenger chassis in longwheelbase forward-control form and equipped with a six-cylindered petrol engine. The chassis has been strengthened for heavy-duty work and heavier rear springs have been fitted.

The furniture-van body is a product of Messrs. Mitchell and has been built for Messrs. John McIntosh and Sons, Glasgow. Visitors will note the effective scheme of streamlining, which tends to reduce the apparent height.

On this stand will also be seen a Leyland Badger chassis equipped with a platform body by Messrs. Mitchell. The machine is powered by a four-cylindered oil engine rated at 32.4 h.p.

Latest Renault Model.

In addition to the 35-40-cwt. van, Renault. Ltd., is now listing a dropsided lorry of similar pay-load capacity. Both these models will be seen on Stand 97, in company with a 10-cwt. and a 15-cwt. van.

The 35-40-cwt. chassis incorporates a 2.384-litre four-cylindered side-valve engine suspended at three points, with flexible rubber mountings. The Solex down-draught carburetter has a hand controlled starting device. This size of power unit is also used in the 15-cwt. chassis.

Cornmer vehicles will appear on Stand 98 of Armour and Melvin, Ltd. At the bottom of the scale is the 8-cwt. van of 80-cubic-ft. capacity. Despite

the small engine (9.8 h.p.), 33 b.h.p. is developed.

Next, there will be a 15-cwt. forwardcontrol streamlined van, costing, as shown, £490. A drop-sided lorry body will be mounted on the N3-type 2-3-ton normal-control long-wheelbase chassis, which incorporates a 3.181-litre sixcylinclered engine, developing 70 b.h.p.

Representative of Commer passenger vehicles will be a PN3-type special 20seater coach, priced at £650.

Another range of Commers will be found on the next stand (99), tenanted by Messrs. Hamilton Brothers. Again, the 15-cwt. chassis will be on view, in this case carrying a de luxe van body. Variety will be provided by a 20-25cwt. boxy-an of attractive specification, and the display will be rounded off by Waveney-bodied special 14-seater coach, the basis of which is the PN3 chassis.

Three examples of the Vulcan range will be shown by W. and H. Packham,

Ltd. (Stand 100). Of particular interest will be the 5-ton forward-control drop-sided lorry. With a wheelbase of 11 ft. 4/ ins., the platform length is 14 ft. and the unladen weight of the machine is under 21 tons.

An Interesting Chassis Exhibit.

Two examples of the Vulcan 2itonner will also be on view, the first being a normal-control drop-sided lorry of 11-ft. wheelbase. The second 2-1tenner will be the forward-control model, which, has a wheelbase of 9 ft. 8 ins. It will be seen in chassis form.

Messrs. H. T. Harvey, the wellknown Scottish Dodge distributors, will be showing, on Stand 101, three examples of the Dodge range. Special interest will attach to a 25-seater coach, the body of which is a product of the Duple concern. The Dodge 15-cwt. van will also be available for inspection and the third exhibit will be a 2-ton end-tipping lorry equipped with Clayton-Dewandre hand-operated tipping gear.

Leyland models of four types will be seen on the stand (102) of John Gibson and Son, Ltd., distributor of this make of vehicle in North-East Scotland. An imposing exhibit will be the Octopus eight-wheeled 15-tonner with a lorry body. There will also be two Cub models, one with a 15-ft. platform carrying a cattle and sheep container, and the other with a special body for the transport of biscuits.

A Duple 32-seater luxury body will be mounted upon the Tiger passenger chassis. The last-named vehicle is for Wallace Arnold Tours, Ltd., Leeds, a member of the well-known Barr group of independent companies.

Three Foden Oilers.

Fodens, Ltd., will have its own stand (103), on which will be seen three models. The largest will be a 12-ton rigid six-wheeler, having a Gardner 6LW oil engine, built to the order of

Adamson, Ltd. Constructed to the repeat order of Messrs. R. Eason and Son will be a: 71-ton four-wheeler with A Gardner 4LW oil engine. The small est machine will he a 4-termer, in which the Gardner 41.K compression-ignition unit supplies the motive power.

Four examples of the well-known Gardner oil engine are to be shown by the maker, Norris; Henty and Gardners, Ltd. (Stand 104).

The smallest unit is the 4LIC model, which has a capacity of 3.8 litres and develops 53 b.h.p. at 2,000 r.p.m. Having a high power-to-weight ratio, this unit merits close study. Aluminium is used extensively for both the cylinder block and head, whilst the crankcase and sump are of Elektron. Last year this unit was fully described in the issue of The Commercial Motor dated August 23, 1935. .

Other models to be shown include the popular 6LW type, which has a capacity of 8.4 litres and develops a maximum of 102 b.h.p., the 7-litre 5LW model and the 4LW 5.6-litre unit, which has a maximum output of 68 b.h.p.

The high-spot of the display by W. H. Dorman and Co., Ltd. (Stand 105), will be a fully sectioned 4D.S.type four-cylindered oil engine in

motion to demonstrate the cycle of operations of Dorman-Ricardo units. This model has a bore of 90 mm, and a stroke of 120 mm., the capacity being 3.053 litres.

Other engines on view will include the Ajax 60 b.h.p. four-cylindered unit of 4.075 litres and the big 6J.U.R. type, which has a capacity of 6.324 litres and develops a maximum of 90 b.h.p.

Of primary interest on the stand (1136) of F. Perkins, Ltd., will be the new Leopard II 4.4-litre four-cylindered oil engine, a full description of which appeared in last week's issue. The three outstanding features of this engine are the improvement that has been effected to the Perkins patented Aerotlow combustion system, the use of lend-bronze for the main bearings as well as for the big-ends, and the high power-to-weight ratio. The unit weighs only 8 lb. per b.h.p.

In addition to the Leopard II unit, the company is to exhibit a Wolf engine, which has an output of 45 b.h.p. at 2,500 r.p.m., and a sectioned example of the Leopard I unit.
