Dachser shopping for more UK acquisitions after buy
d urn inic. per ryfarbi.co.0 k NICK LOWE, MD of German logistics firm Dachser's UK operation, says the firm is looking to buy another four or five transport firms over the next five years to expand its UK presence.
His comments come on the back of last week's acquisition of Rochdale firm Leach Distribution adding to existing operations in Northampton and Dartford (CM 29 April).
Lowe says: "We are looking for companies that are strong in their own right in the UK market. We want them to be pallet network members and be able to handle the type of freight we have and integrate into our UK and European network."
Although the firm has an annual turnover of 1.24m in the UK, with 165 employees, Lowe acknowledges this is relatively small compared to Dachser's overall size, hence the aggressive expansion plans.
Lowe says that Leach Distribution is a good fit because of its location, staff and size. He describes the £6m-turnover, 80-employee operation as "integratable".
