VAN DRIVERS IN East Surre!, have been warned to keep a close eye on their vehicles after a spate of thefts of catalytic converters this year.

East Surrey Police say 34 catalytic converters have been stolen from vehicles parked up in Mole Valley, Reigate, Banstead and Tandridge — the majority from Ford Transit vans.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Raymer says his advice is for owners of such vehicles to mark their catalytic converter with their name and address.

Anyone with any information should contact Surrey Police on 0845 1252222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
