I read your report on 44-tanners in CM of 6-12 February. I also buy the Rail magazine. Well, the editor has been knocking HGVs and the possible 44-tanner. I have talked to him to put an even debate. He said he would welcome letters. If you obtain the new Rail (12-25 February), he goes on about "soot". If you go to page
52 you will see a class 33 loco doing an impression of an old Gardner-powered truck.
Allelys Heavy Haulage, for example, likes the "mess" on the rails as he is busy transporting rail vehicles all over the place.
