Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WITH the increasing difficulty in obtaining good workshop staff the greater output required from the workshop can only be obtained by more mechanization. It is no longer acceptable to allow a fitter to spend a whole morning struggling with a set of axle U-bolt nuts, for the time involved not only affects the shop output but must also be reckoned as vehicle downtime. Power-operated and geared spanners have gained popularity in recent years; units available are covered in this review.

It weighs 21lb. flywheel, while the Plarad is a planetary geared torque-increasing unit designed for manual tightening.

The flywheel of the Collmann is driven by a set of seven V belts and the machine is mounted on a trolley with rubber tyres. It operates without clutch, brakes or gearing and is said to be capable of removing badly rusted nuts with the minimum of noise. According to the maker's description of the principle, the socket shaft is turned by the impact of the flywheel, which is rotatable in either direction. It is suitable for sockets of 17mm to 46mm or equivalent sizes in inches and weighs 100kg while the working level is adjustable from 240mm to 800mm. The motor is a three-phase unit developing 1.1 hp on a voltage of 220 or 380. The machine is available with a control system giving automatic loosening and tightening.
