Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

nETAILS can now be revealed of the plans which the Ministry of Transport and the vehicles committees of the T.R.T.A. and R.H.A. have formulated for testing goods vehicle brakes in an effort to get improved braking efficiencies on new vehicles.

The Ministry and the committees have been seeking for some time to improve standards, and the Ministry said some time ago that they would like to test existing vehicles.

Now arrangements have been made for such tests to be carried out at the Road Research Laboratory's track at Crowthorne, near Bracknell, Berks. The tests will be carried out between 8.45 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. on the weeks commencing March 16, April 6 and April 20.

Only rigid flat or drop-sided vehicles are wanted, and they must be empty, to make room for standard test weights. Tests will be carried out at 10, 20, 30, 40 and (if possible) 50 m.p.h., and in respect of the handbrake, at 20 and 50 m.p.h. It is expected that a full test will take 24 to 3 hours.

But to ensure success, an adequate number of vehicles must be available. Operators who can help should contact T.R.T.A. or R.H.A. headquarters, who will be able to advise whether their vehicles are, in fact, required.
