Tunnel have now been published by the Tyne Tunnel Joint Committee. The charge for light goods vehicles will be 2s. 6d., for medium goods vehicles 4s., and for heavy lorries 55.

It is hoped that the tunnel will be opened in 1964, and the committee estimate that in that year 7,000 vehicles will use it daily. They think that by 1984 this figure will have increased to 20,000. The tunnel will cost about £13m.
