A[THOUGH Cardiff Transport Department will show a loss on the present financial year, the transport committee are to seek powers to grant concessionary fares to old-age pensioners which could cost the undertaking about £60,000 a year.
They reached this decision after hearing Mr. J. M. Bowen. deputy city treasurer, state that the total loss between April 1; 1958,and January 31 this year was £11,794. Of this, £6,842 was lost between December 28 and
January 31. . .
Mr. Bowen said the loss for that period was expected because of the wage award and the fact that there was (little a material reduction in income.
