Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Firetrace is an extinguishing system that puts out fires at their source automatically. A pressurised halon-filled tank is connected to a plastic tube which is routed around the engine compartment. If a fire breaks out it will heat and soften the tube allowing the pressurised halon to burst it and extinguish the flames.

Using low-temperature tubing ensures that it will quickly rupture over the hottest point thereby directing the halon at the source of the fire.

For large commercial vehicles a 2kg halon container is required which will have up to seven metres of tubing attached. If more tubing is required a tee piece can be inserted at the canister and another seven metres attached.
