• The drivirig school boss who threatened the Driver Standards Agency with a writ for axing Saturday tests is considering legal action against the DVLA to recover £20,000 he claims he has lost because of delays in processing trainees' provisional licences.
He successfully challenged the Driver Standards Agency earlier this year when he contested its sudden withdrawal of Saturday testing (CM 21-27 Feb), and says he has lost
over £5,000 this week alone because only three out of 14 students received their provisional licences in time to start the course.
If the delays of around six weeks continue he says he will be forced to lay off up to three of his seven instructors.
The DVLA claims it is processing licences in six days.
