Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• J&J Conversions of Andover, Hants has launched a new Iveco Ford 49.10 TurboDaily-based recovery vehicle featuring an allnew spectacle lift.

The system is housed under the vehicle floor and is extended by hydraulic rams.

Conventional recovery vehicles use spectacle lifts attached to the rear of the chassis which fold up against the rear when not in use.

The J&J system, which was designed and built in-house using the company's CAD/CAM computer system, is said to offer several advantages: El The recovery vehicle can be reversed up closer to brokendown vehicles because there is no need to leave room to lower the lift.

El The lifting head has been designed to recover a vehicle even if it is unattended — the front section extends against the front wheels and the rear section is then bolted in place, encapsulating the wheels.

I=1 As the system can be adjusted to the relevant wheel size it prevents damage to front spoilers when a disabled vehicle is lifted.

El For recovering motorcycles the spectacle lift can be retracted to bring the motorcycle close to the back of the recovery vehicle. The system also allows the standard rear doors to be used; most recovery vehicles use a roller shutter.

Jed says that at 208kg the retractable system is at least 150kg lighter than anything else on the market.

To accommodate the lift the floor is raised by about 100mtn, but headroom is unaffected in the high-roof 49.10.

The front bulkhead is moved back to provide accommodation for an additional four passengers and the seats are equipped with seat belts and a child harness.

The rear of the body is also shortened to reduce the rear overhang and the interior can be fitted out to suit customer requirements.
