LORDS START COMMITTEE STAGE NEXT WEEK KTEXT Monday the House of Lords

11 will resume consideration of the Transport Bill. The Committee stage will be opened with several proposed amendments by the Government.

One will refer to the powers of the British Transport Commission to manufacture vehicles. The amendment will tie the Commission down to the construction of vehicles only for its own. purposes, although a contract for sale entered into before the Commission acquired an undertaking (presumably referring to the Bristol Tramways and Carriage Co., Ltd.) could be completed.

Another Government amendment will alter the basis of compensation for trailers (as distinct from semi-trailers). An annual deduction of one-seventh of the cost, instead of one-fifth, will be made.
