A WALSALL TRUCK driver has had his compensation for unpaid holiday pay unexpectedly doubled because of a change in Employment Tribunal regulations.

A Birmingham Employment Tribunal had already awarded Driver David Hewitt a total of £548 in unpaid holiday money against his former employer, driver agency A StC Recruitment of Wa lsa The Tribunal had not been legally bound to take into consideration the fact that Hewitt had not been given written terms and conditions of employment.

But because of a recent change in Tri burial regulations concerning contracts. Hewitt, who had been employed by the firm for nearly a year, asked for his compensation to be reviewed.

At the latest hearing, Tribunal chairman Peter Swann awarded Hewitt a further £548 because of the firm's failure to provide him with written terms and conditions.

Swami said: "The firm has been brought hack through no fault of its own because there was no mandatory procedure regarding written terms for contracts at the time of the previous hearing.

"The case has been reviewed in the interests of j ustice."
