Tax helpline A telephone helpline, set up by the Inland Revenue as part of the New Enterprise Support Initiative (NESI), offers advice and support for new and small businesses. The helpline will offer advice in three areas: • The registration of new employers for PAYE purposes; • Distribution of information packs that detail the process of creating a payroll and operating tax and national insurance for the first time; • Handling any general payroll queries.
As part of the NESI the Inland Revenue has set up local Business Support Teams (BSTs) which will offer detailed help on payroll matters.
