Working parents The Department of Trade and Industry has launched a review into issues surrounding parental leave and maternity pay. Central to the review will be: • The simplification of legislation and regulations, providing employers and employees with dearer guidance; • The impact of statutory levels of maternity pay and leave; • The extent of additional entitlements offered by employers; • The take-up of parental and paternity leave, and factors deterring employees from taking it; • The problems and benefits concerning the return to work; • Rights to adoption leave.
