Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

When National Travel's first scheduled run to Frankfurt left Victoria Coach Station last Friday (see page 30) there was a good turnout of senior officials to see it off. On the return journey there was a reception committee too — at Chelmsford bus station, led by John Wilson, National Travel's southeastern area manager.

But they never saw the coach. The only passenger for Chelmsford asked to be set down on the by-pass! No wonder Derek Fytche, NT's express services executive, was surprised when the coach arrived at Victoria half an hour early — he'd had a message from Chelmsford reporting that the vehicle was adrift.
