7OLLOWING its introduction at the . recent Welding Engineering Exhibiion at Buxton, the new Sif-Griesheim 3litz combined welding and cutting torch

s now generally available. The torch is upplied with a wide range of welding nd cutting nozzles, a double-roller cuting guide and an all-purpose spanner, .11 contained in a steel carrying box. Many important features are claimed or the Blitz. The specially designed hank is made in one piece and is availble either in brass or aluminium alloy.

pressures. There are eight precisionmade welding nozzles which give fusion welding capacities of mild steel from 25 s.w.g. (0.02 in.) to 1136 in. thick.

For cutting, a special attachment is fixed to the shank and there are five single-piece copper nozzles giving..p cut ting range between in. to 8 in. thickness. The cutting attachment has a quick-lock-and-release fitting which provides easy operation.

The Sif-Griesheim Blitz is marketed by Suffolk Iron Foundry (1920), Ltd., Stowinarket, Suffolk.

For Consumption Checks

A N instrument which measures fuel –1 consumption to 0.01 or 0.001 gal. has leen developed by Flow Developments. Ad.. of Nottingham. Named the -homson Flowmeter. the instrument was esigned primarily for oil heating instalations, but when fitted on a vehicle letween the fuel tank and the engine nables a running check to be kept of he rate of consumption.

The price of the Flowmeter, complete with a remote counter for mounting nside the vehicle, flexible pipes and itting brackets, is under £16.

cheaper Balancing

A WHEEL BALANCE WEIGHT

system introduced by Patents, Ltd., vIuch Park Street, Coventry, is claimed o reduce costs by as much as 50 per ent. The system employs what are ailed Easobal Ready-Curved Weigh tticks. These are curved strips of metal .nd the size of weight required can he ut off. The weightsticks are marked to acilitate this.

The weight thus obtained is then .ttached to the wheel rim by means of Inc of the spring-steel barbed clips sup

plied. The grip, it is claimed, cannot be loosened by vibration.

Ready-Curved Weightsticks come in two pack sizes, the normal pack. CWS/12 (120 oz.), costs £2 15s, trade, and a giant pack, CWS/I00 (1,000 oz.), costs £20 trade. Both packs include clips.

Neat Storage

AN adjustable shelving system, comprising cantilever brackets with Novoboard shelves. has been developed by Ebdon Brothers, Ltd., London, S.W.11. The brackets fit into special wall

bars which have fixing slots at 4.5-in, intervals and are intended to he mounted vertically 2 ft. 6 in. apart.

Various lengths of bracket arc obtainable. They are said to be self-seating and self-locking in the wall bars and to have load capacities ranging from 200 lb. for one I ft. 6 in. long to 300 lb. for a 6 in. bracket.

Oil-fired Heating

A LEAFLET on their Turbo-Static Oil. IA Fired Heater has been published by Colt Ventilation, Ltd., of Surbiton, Surrey.

Because of the method of oil firing used in them, Colt heaters are small and compact in relation to their output. For example, the 500,000 B.Th.11. model is 3 ft. 7 in. wide by 3 ft. deep by 8 ft. 3 in. high and weighs only 950 lb.

An interesting feature of the leaflet is that all performance details and dimensions are given in metric as well as in the equivalent British measurements.

Keeping Screens Clear

AWINDSCREEN washer designed for commercial vehicles—Model 1161— is now available from Wingard. Ltd, Chichester, Sussex.

Main features of the washer are that it has a compact. easy to fit, manual pump assembly, which is said to allow the pressure of the jet to be controlled to cope with all road speeds. A large pump and bottle-40 oz.—provides a powerful jet and greater storage. Rustproof materials are used throughout.

Each pack is sold complete with jet assemblies suitable for normal and forward control vehicles. The retail price is -C1 9s. 9d.

Tyre Paper Published

THE paper entitled Truck Tyres. for Modern Conditions which Mr. B. P. Gledhill, of the India Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd., presented to a meeting of the National Co-operative Traffic Managers' Association in Blackpool on May 29, has been published by India as an I8-page booklet.
