IN accordance with the terms of the 1 Maythorn Bequest, the council of The Institute of British Carriage and Automobile Manufacturers are arranging an open competition for an essay on the following subject: "Particularly in view of the possible U.K. participation in the European Common Market, how can the 'Design to Production' stages of improved designs of either (a) private cars; (b) public service vehicles, or (c) commercial vehicles be more rapidly achieved."

The prizes offered are: First, £40 and the institute's silver medal. Second, £35 and the institute's bronze medal. Third, £20 and the institute's diploma.
