ryposiTioN to the Minister of \--4' Transport's proposed London lorry route and protests about the street parking of commercial vehicles were given the backing of Middlesex County Council last week, when they approved recommendations made by their highways committee. Local authorities having protested strongly about the effects of the lorry route (from Al and MI to London docks and markets), the highways committee recommended that the Minister should be told of the County Council's anxiety about this project, a recommendation that was approved by the full council. On street parking, they supported the highways committee and Feltharn U.D.C. complaints to the Ministry that street parking of commercial vehicleswas an annoyance, a potential danger and was damaging roads; the recommendation called for legislation to control the problem in the whole Metropolitan area.
