Dtaying alert on long journeys is a problem many lorry drivers will have experienced. Now a chewing gum has been introduced which is said to combat the effects of drowsiness.

Buzz Gum's wonder ingredient is Guarana, a seed described as the "lifeforce of the Amazon" and apparently used for centuries by Amazon Indians as a general health tonic, food supplement and to fight fatigue. A report by Japan's Transport Medicine Research Foundation concludes that Guarana is effective in preventing drowsiness. However, the proof of the pudding is in the chewing.
