AT the annual meeting of the North Central Wagon and Finance Co., Ltd.. the chairman, Mr. E. Duncan Taylor, said that long-term prospects pointed to further but possibly moregradual increases in the demand for hire purchase facilities. He believed they could look forward to the future with a reasonable degree of optimism, although the immediate outlook was uncertain.
New business was running at a lower level than in 1959, but recent reductions in overtime earnings and an increased short-time working in some industrial areas suggested that it was unlikely there would be any material improvement in the near future.
Group net profit, after taxation, was £455,740.
