ALLEGATIONS of "pin-money pirates "—private-car owners who pick up fare-paying passengers from A. V. Roe's Woodford aircraft factory because of the shortage of buses—were strongly denied • last week by Mr N. Bourne, secretary of the factory's joint shop stewards' committee. The accusations were made by Mr. Derek Fytehe. traffic manager of the North Western Road Car Co., Ltd., after complaints from workers about bus services from the factory.
Mr. Bourne said it was about time the bus users' views were heard. "There have been numerous complaints of buses not turning up or being late." He said the complaints were not directed at the bus crews but at the administration.
"I can understand bus drivers being off sick," he said, "but why cannot someone in authority notify the firm if any bus is missing? "
