THE suggestion that Holland (Lin
colnshire) hauliers " want their heads knocking together because they have no interest in their own survival," was made by a speaker at a meeting at Spalding which was open to road-transport contractors.
There would certainly appear to be some truth in what the speaker said, for, following an enthusiastic meeting a few weeks ago, when Mr. H. W. Butcher, M.P., addressed a crowded gathering of hauliers, a second meeting was convened, but only six people turned up, apart from the chairman, secretary, a third speaker, and three Press representatives!
It had been hoped to appoint a local secretary and committee to continue " hammering away " at the Government for an improvement in hauliers' petrol rations, but, in view of the most disappointing attendance, it was decided to call another meeting for to-day (January 6).
