• A new report by Professor Alan Woodside of the Highway Engineering Research Centre at the University of Ulster calls for noise-reducing road surfaces. The report claims these surfaces could do away with sound barriers. The research shows new surfaces can reduce noise by around 50%. Contact: 01232 368706.
