DURING the recent cold spel great many lorries we disabled by waxing up of die fuel. At temperatures of bell minus 9°C wax crystals begin form in diesel fuel and evi tually clog up the system.

The addition of paraffin reduce the problem but is ille because excise duty must paid on vehicle fuel. While pet also dilutes thick diesel, I much can damage the engine.

Carbural of Sutton in Ashfic Nottinghamshire, claims that diesel additive Waxmaster is1 answer. It is said to envelope 1 tiny crystals when they fi appear, preventing them ft.( joining together and causinc blockage.

To give maximum protect' it is 'essential to treat the die before temperatures go down minus 9° C, but the additive said to 'help even after waxi has started. If the wax wh tends to settle to the bottom the tank can be drained away I remainder of the fuel can treated.
