Yorkshire Licensing Authority JOHN CARPENTER is also acting in a temporary capacity as LA and Traffic Commissioners' chairman in the Northern Traffic Area, following the death of BERTRAM FOSTER, and pend ing the appointment of a fulltime successor.
Road transport's insurance guru, ALAN DONALD, is to retire from Ernest A. Notcutt and Company after 52 years' service with the insurance braking company. He has been a director of the company since 1965, and for the past nine years has been chairman of the Road Haulage Association panel of insurance brokers. Last year, he wrote the definitive book on CMR insurance, and he was awarded an MBE in the New Year honours.
• PHILIP HARMER has taken over from RALPH ROBERTS as National Bus Company regional executive in Northern England, following Mr Roberts' two-year secondment to West Yorkshire PTE as its deputy director-general. Mr Harmer remains general manager of Northern General Transport, pending the appointment of a successor. He entered the bus industry as secretary/accountant with Timpsons in 1965.
The new group chief accountant for NBC is BRIAN FRANCE, who will succeed BOB FRANKLIN, when he retires on April 1, Mr France has been secretary and accountant with Bristol Onmibus since 1976. And IAN REID, NBC group finance officer since 1977, has become controller of funds with NBC.
JOHN TAYLOR and PETER WILLIAMS have become national accounts managers with British Road Services. Mr Taylor was previously a sales executive with Wilkinson Transport, and before that a sales manager with a Renault dealership in Oxford. Mr Williams was export sales manager with Coventry Climax for the past three and a half years.
Midlands BRS has made TREVOR PARRY its Oldbury branch rental manager. He has respc sibility for lorry and trailer rent and was previously employed the company's Bromford Mi branch.
