NOW imported as a complete truck rather than in ckd form, the Magirus Deutz is the longest serving Continental eightwheeler on the UK market. Under the type number of 232D 30 FK, the truck is powered by the familiar Deutz air-cooled V8 which delivers 171kW (229bhp) at 2,650rpm for 11.3 litres (689cuin) naturally aspirated.

The clutch is a single-dryplate design of 380mm (15in) diameter, which is coupled to a ZF six-speed constant-mesh gearbox.

A parallel-section laddertype frame is featured with channel-section side-members and riveted cross-members. At the rear bogie the thrust is fed to the frame by the springs at the front and by radius arms at the rear. The chassis/cab weight complete with driver, Ariaspare wheel and tools is 8.2 tonnes (8 tons 1 cwt). One model is offered with a wheelbase of 5.64m (18ft 6in).
